 Lake Inle (Myanmar)

It is a freshwater lake located in the mountains of Shan state in Myanmar (Burma). It is the second largest lake in Myanmar. Inle Lake is 22km long and about 11km wide. The lake is full of floating vegetations and houses. The lake dwellers are one-legged rowers. They are called as "Inthar" meaning people of the lake. There are about 18 villages around the lake. They are Buddhist and about a hundred Buddhist monasteries can be found. A lot small pagodas can be found too. Lush, green and fertile, remote Inle Lake is a picture of rural tranquility. As it lies in the Shan state, an undeveloped state the size of Portugal with merely one industrial plant, the environment is pristine.
